The District of Macedonia Thrace organized and Open Info-Day on Wednesday, 17 of April 2019 at 11.00, at the Municipal Amphitheatre, Kato Nevrokopi City Hall.

The event focused on the issue of Public System for Primary Health Care Provision and the features that should characterize it.

The event started with a short presentation of the SMiLe project – Strengthening primary Medical care in IsoLated and deprived cross-border arEas- that is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and by national funds of the countries participating in INTERREG V-A “Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020″Cooperation Programme.

The Manager of the 4th Health District of Macedonia Thrace Eftsratios Plomaritis analyzes the History of the National Health System, including its evolution in a legal and administrative context, as well as the challenges that faces today.

Alexis Benos , Professor of the Medical School of AUTh discussed the different levels and strategies for successful Primary Healthcare provision, the reality that citizens and professionals are experiencing, and presented the latest developments in Greece and globally.

The Mayor of Kato Nevrokopi, a number of representatives of local institutions and associations, as well as health care professionals of the area also contributed presenting their experiences concerning Primary Health Care in a cross-border setting.

The event was also attended by students of the Nursing Department of the Technological Educational Institute of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, who had the opportunity to familiarize and discuss issues that will face in their future professional life.
