District of Macedonia Thrace organized and Open Info-Day on Thursday, 6 of December 2018 at 12.00, at the Municipal Amphitheatre, Didymoteicho City Hall.

The event focused on the issue of Public System for Primary Health Care Provision and the features that should characterize it.

The event started with a short presentation of the SMiLe project – Strengthening primary Medical care in IsoLated and deprived cross-border arEas- that is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and by national funds of the countries participating in INTERREG V-A “Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020″Cooperation Programme.

The Manager of the 4th Health District of Macedonia Thrace Eftsratios Plomaritis analyzes the History of the National Health System, including its evolution in a legal and administrative context, as well as the challenges that face today.

Professor of the Medical School of AUTh Alexis Benos juxtaposed the Primary Healthcare Vision with the Reality that citizens and professionals are experiencing, and presented the latest developments in Greece and globally.

The Mayor of Didymoteicho, Paraskevas Patsouridis, a number of representatives of local institutions and associations, as well as health care professionals of the area talked about their experiences concerning Primary Health Care in a cross-border setting.

The event was also attended by students of the Nursing Department of the Technological Educational Institute of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, who had the opportunity to familiarize and discuss issues that will face in their future professional life.
